Mui Ne Fishing Village

In an effort to see some of the local tourist attractions, I grabbed a map from the front desk of my hotel listing the top things to see around the area. The options were basically the dunes, the town of Phan Thiet and a fishing village to the east of the tourist strip. I'd seen the town the previous day on my way in, and the dunes were the furthest away so I decided on the fishing village. After getting the price for the local tourist bus which frequents the fishing village (8,000VND), I shopped around for a couple minutes and was able to get a motorbike taxi to take me there for the same rate.

Morning in Nha Trang

After scanning the immediate area for places to eat, I settled for a little shack next to my hotel which had slightly more reasonable prices than the surrounding places. For about 3 dollars I was able to get a nice alligator dish to get my morning going. Later on in the day I noticed several other clones of this place around town using the exact same menu, I was slightly disappointing that I'd chosen the Nha Trang's equivalent for Mc Donalds, but I guess I should have realized that a place called "Same Same But Cheaper", might not be the most original place around.

Bronte to Bondi

Yesterday I took a cab ride over to Bronte Beach in search of a scenic walk. Along the east side of Sydney there are multiple trails going up and down the coast, this one is about 1 mile and goes from Bronte Beach to Bondi  Beach. The weather was cool and the wind was overwhelming  which is reflected in the size of the waves in these pictures. During the walk the wind got strong enough to knock you over, at several points along the way people on the path were leaning against the wind in order to keep their footing.

Thirroul

I woke up yesterday morning with an urge to see something new in Sydney. I decided visiting the fish market would be worth my time, however it was too far to walk and I wasn't going to pay a cab. Some internet research indicated that a form of public transportation called "light rail" could deliver me to this location for a cheap 5 dollars, so I decide to skip lunch and get to the train station. After I made the walk down to central station and purchased my ticket, I asked the help desk where I could find the boarding area for this light rail thing. The answer I got was vague and difficult to understand through the Japanese accent, however I traced what little I could understand and ended up on the opposite side of the station at a bus stop headed for Thirroul. I didn't think light rail would be a bus, but there's been a lot of track-work lately and so buses have been filling in the gaps, I also didn't recognize the location, but that made sense because the line that stopped at the fish market also went to some place I didn't recognize. When the bus showed up 10 minutes later, I boarded with a great sense of accomplishment.

Newcastle at Daytime

I woke and checked out of my hotel on the morning of new years eve, and walked down to the beach to see what type of activity there was. The heat and the coastal breeze worked well to make it feel like a great summer day, great enough that after walking up and down the beach-side path and witnessing my first topless sunbather I celebrated with a beer at a beach-side cafe.

Day At Bondi Beach

Today I made the walk down from Bondi Junction to Bondi Beach on the east coast of Sydney. It's about a two mile walk, but not a bad journey when you know there's a cool beer at the end of it. The first thing I noticed about the area was the rock faced bluffs surrounding the beach.
